Funtasia Cultural Center Brings Creative Learning to Youth in Luxor

EGYPT | AKP is thrilled to add a new project in Egypt to our 2018 portfolio of philanthropic programming. Funtasia Cultural Center in Luxor offers after school programming for local children, ranging in ages from 4 to 16 years old. The center focuses on strengthening confidence, communication, and collaboration, among young people using tools such as the arts, gardening, poetry, nutrition, health, and coding.

Taught by locally trained facilitators, children develop different artistic skills including photography, painting, sculpture, and even film directing. The aim is to prepare youth for a life of meaningful connections – with people and their surroundings, for the job market of tomorrow and to promote the use of creativity as a means to finding solutions to their and their communities’ challenges.
Funtasia currently carries its interdisciplinary and innovative after school program in the form of 8 classes per week (3 trimesters per year), plus the periodical adult trainings and workshops (about 20 per year).

With the involvement of Abercrombie & Kent Philanthropy, Funtasia plans to expand its programming and deliver even more classes to meet the increasing demand and positive feedback from the community.
