AKP helps marginalized youth in Laos find secure jobs
Overview
This project supports marginalized youth in Laos - helping them move from an insecure past towards a secure future, by finding a skilled job that compensates them fairly.
In Laos, AKP partners with Friends-International, an NGO that provides holistic support to marginalized youth and caregivers. In Laos, Friends runs a program called ‘Futures’ which supports youth who have undertaken a training program to find gainful and full-time employment in their field.
In 2019, AKP started sponsoring trained youth to receive support through the Futures program. The program is tailored to the individual needs of the trainee, but may include career counseling, soft skill training, job placement, self-employment, or referrals to relevant social or professional support.
Visit this Project
To visit the Futures Project, guests may visit the Khaiphaen Restaurant in Luang Prabang, which is a training school managed by Friends-International.
By booking a lunch or dinner at Khaiphaen Restaurant, guests will have a chance to see Friends-International’s training program in action – while enjoying a delicious Laotian meal. As an add on to the meal, guests may opt to participate in the ‘Alms Making’ activity, which includes preparing alms, with the Khaiphaen students, to be donated to monks the following morning.
A&K can include a visit to Khaiphaen and the Futures Project on a Luxury Tailor Made Journey to Laos. Contact our offices in Australia, the UK or the USA for assistance in creating an itinerary just for you.
